Tajik, UN Women Officials Discuss Gender Equality, Women’s Empowerment

The Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, Bunafsha Fayziddinzoda, met with the Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Deputy Executive Director of UN Women, Kirsi Madi.
The meeting took place during the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, or CSW-70, held at U.N. Headquarters in New York.
According to the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the United Nations, the parties discussed strengthening cooperation between Tajikistan and UN Women in expanding opportunities for women, promoting gender equality, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.
The meeting also included discussions on supporting national programs to develop women’s entrepreneurship, strengthen the family institution, and increase women’s access to economic and social opportunities.
The 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women continues from March 9 to 19.
