On July 9, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, met in Bobojon Ghafurov district with leaders and activists of the Sughd Province and workers in the country’s industrial sector.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, was briefed on the state of the ferrous metallurgy sector in the region and the world, the present and future of this sector in Tajikistan, the creative plans of the Tajik Metallurgical Plant and its contribution to the development of the country’s national economy. As it was noted, with the implementation of the current and future plans of this plant for the construction of metallurgical, cement, lime, glass, ceramic, seranite and other construction and industrial materials enterprises, the role of this group of proud domestic entrepreneurs in the development of the import-substituting production system in Tajikistan and the expansion of its export potential will be prominent.

Regarding the construction of one of the most important industrial facilities in the country — the iron ore enrichment plant of the Tajik Metallurgical Combine Joint-Stock Company, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, said that the construction of this facility is not just the construction of an enterprise, but the beginning of a new stage in the development of the mining industry and the laying of the foundation for the national metallurgy of Tajikistan.

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, expressed gratitude to the company’s employees and all partners who contribute to the implementation of this important project for their dedicated work.

The Head of State considered ferrous metallurgy to be important in the development and progress of the industrial, construction, transport, energy sectors, as well as the development of logistics and shipping infrastructure.

According to the Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, this sector will reduce the country’s dependence on imported iron and other construction materials, and will also create the basis for the development of exports.

It was noted that since the first days of independence, the Government of the country has identified the development of industry as one of the priority areas of economic policy, and is implementing the necessary measures for the effective use of national resources and the formation of production capacities.

“Today, Tajikistan is gradually moving from an economy based mainly on the export of raw materials to an economy of industrial production,” said Emomali Rahmon.

“The goal of establishing such large-scale metallurgical enterprises is one of the main pillars of the industrial economy of Tajikistan,” emphasized the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon.

It was considered necessary that each ton of mined ore should, first of all, be processed within the country and turned into a final product.

According to the Leader of the Nation, “this should be the main direction of the state industrial policy.”

The President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that the development of ferrous metallurgy contributes to solving the issue of employment, including by creating new jobs in mines, processing and manufacturing enterprises, and the creation of small and medium-sized enterprises.

It was also stated that the creation of small and large enterprises in the field of building and establishing preschool and secondary general education institutions, cultural institutions, medical and household centers, sports centers, and the like will also contribute to the reconstruction of roads and other infrastructure.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, stated that today Tajikistan has entered a new stage of industrial development.

“Our goal is to gradually transform from a country that extracts minerals into a country that produces metal products,” emphasized Emomali Rahmon.

The Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, considered it necessary for the relevant structures to meet the growing demands of the domestic market as much as possible through domestic production, and to turn the country’s underground resources into a source of industrial development, the creation of new jobs, and the growth of Tajikistan’s export potential.

It was said that each new industrial project should be aimed at organizing full-fledged production, full processing of domestic raw materials, production of competitive final products, and expansion of their export.

It was noted that only with this approach can we turn independent Tajikistan into a developed industrial state.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, considered the issue of training engineering and technical personnel to be of strategic importance in the conditions of rapid industrialization.

It was highlighted that today the rapid development of industrial sectors, including metallurgy, mechanical engineering, chemistry, energy, production of building materials, food and other production sectors, has an increasing need for engineers, technologists, designers, automation specialists and other highly qualified national personnel.

Therefore, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, instructed that the development of the system of training engineering and technical personnel should be one of the priority areas of state policy in the fields of education and industry.

It was also emphasized that our task today is not only to build new enterprises, but also to form a national engineering and technological school that meets the requirements of global industrial development.

In order to ensure the further development of national metallurgy, the formation of a complete production chain, the effective use of subsoil resources, and the increase in the production of high-value-added products, the President of the country, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the relevant ministries and departments to develop and submit to the Government of the country the Program for the Development of Ferrous Metallurgy in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027-2035.

Instructions were given to ensure the wide use of mechanisms for public-private cooperation, and to review the training of personnel for all priority sectors of the country’s industry, taking into account the requirements of modern production.

The executive bodies of state power of the regions, cities and districts of the country were tasked with taking effective measures to develop industrial infrastructure, create a favorable investment environment, allocate land plots for new production projects, support private sector initiatives, and organize export-oriented production.

The Head of State noted that each ministry and department, local authorities, and each responsible leader must understand that the development of the country’s metallurgical sector is not just the task of one sector, but is one of the important factors in strengthening the economic potential of the state, the effective use of national resources, and ensuring sustainable development of Tajikistan.

In conclusion, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon called on all entrepreneurs and investors to effectively use the opportunities provided and actively contribute to the creation of new production capacities, the full processing of domestic raw materials, the manufacturing of competitive final products, and the expansion of their exports.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Sughd Province, Rajab Ahmadzoda, reported on the socio-economic achievements of the region, including that by the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of Tajikistan, the number of facilities being built in preparation for this sacred national holiday will reach more than 15 thousand enterprises and institutions.
