Tajikistan and Iran discuss expanding transport cooperation

DUSHANBE, July 16, 2026 (NIAT Khovar) — A delegation of Tajikistan led by Deputy Minister of Transport Shoista Saidmurodzoda held talks with Iran’s Minister of Roads and Urban Development Farzaneh Sadegh in Tehran on July 14 to discuss expanding bilateral cooperation in the transport sector.
The Tajik delegation also held separate meetings with Iran’s Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Head of the Ports and Maritime Organization Mohammad Shakibinasab, as well as Deputy Minister of Roads and Urban Development and Head of Iran Railways Jabbar Ali Zakeri.
The meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in road and transport infrastructure, increasing cargo transit volumes through the two countries’ transport corridors, and establishing a logistics center at the Port of Chabahar.
The sides emphasized the importance of expanding transport connectivity and developing new opportunities for regional transit cooperation.
