US, Tajikistan Explore Trade, Investment and Security Cooperation

Tajikistan and the United States discussed expanding trade, investment and security cooperation during high-level talks in Washington on Monday.
Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio to review the current state and prospects of bilateral relations, reaffirming their commitment to strengthen ties based on equality, mutual respect and long-term cooperation.
The two sides focused on boosting economic engagement, including increasing bilateral trade, improving the investment climate and encouraging greater participation of U.S. companies in priority sectors of Tajikistan’s economy. They also highlighted opportunities for cooperation in industry, energy, transport infrastructure and digital transformation.
Security issues were also discussed, with both sides reaffirming their readiness to enhance cooperation in combating extremism, terrorism and transnational crime. They stressed the importance of strengthening regional stability and promoting sustainable development in Central Asia.
