On September 27, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, arrived in the city of Khorugh, Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Province, with the aim of inaugurating a number of facilities of various purposes, meeting the people, and participating in festive events dedicated to the 35th anniversary of State Independence.

It should be emphasized that the visit of the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, took place aboard the first flight of the new L-410 NG aircraft operated by the newly established domestic airline company Shohin Airlines to Khorugh. This was also the first flight on the new Dushanbe–Khorugh air route, through which regular air connectivity between the cities of Dushanbe and Khorugh is being restored. From this day forward, regular passenger flights between Dushanbe and Khorugh will be operated using this aircraft, which has been named Badakhshon.

It should be noted that the L-410 NG is a twin-engine turboprop aircraft manufactured by Aircraft Industries of the Czech Republic. It has a capacity of 19 passengers and 2 crew members and is designed for relatively short flights of up to 2,100 kilometers.

The aircraft can operate using a runway of just over 600 meters in length, making it particularly suitable for local airports in the mountainous regions of Tajikistan.

Taking into account this and other advantages of the aircraft that are well suited to Tajikistan’s conditions, the newly established domestic airline company Shohin Airlines intends to establish domestic flights between various cities and districts of the country.

Until now, the fleet of Shohin Airlines had consisted of helicopters, and the introduction of the L-410 NG marks the company’s first step toward developing passenger transportation by fixed-wing aircraft.

At Khorugh Airport, Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, was warmly and sincerely welcomed by the regional leadership, representatives of various professions, and cultural figures, who expressed a strong spirit of patriotism, national pride, and deep affection.

This encounter brought renewed inspiration to the residents of Khorugh and became a clear symbol of the strong bond between the people and the Leader of the Nation.
