On September 23, in the city of Khujand, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, met with the leaders and activists of Sughd Province.

At the beginning of his speech, the Head of State, Emomali Rahmon, sincerely congratulated all hardworking and patriotic residents of Sughd Province on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of state independence.

The President stated that, in preparation for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of state independence, 15,400 social and industrial facilities had been constructed and renovated in the cities and districts of Sughd Province.

It was noted that during just the past three days, as part of the President’s working visit to the cities and districts of the province, 43 newly constructed industrial and social facilities had been commissioned. These included major industrial enterprises in the cities of Istiqlol and Guliston, dozens of educational and healthcare institutions, and service facilities equipped with modern amenities and equipment. Thousands of new jobs have been created at these facilities.

Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, emphasized that these achievements testify to the support of the state’s constructive and development-oriented policies and to the active participation of the residents of Sughd Province in the development and progress of their homeland.

President Emomali Rahmon stated that, during the years of independence, the Government of the country had allocated more than 40 billion somoni from the state budget for the comprehensive development of the province and improvement of living conditions for its residents, as well as for the implementation of the province’s social and economic programs. More than 100 state investment projects worth 11 billion somoni have been implemented in the province, while the implementation of another 24 projects is currently underway.

During the meeting with the leaders and active representatives of Sughd Province, President Emomali Rahmon also spoke in detail about achievements in key sectors of the national economy, including industry, energy, agriculture, education and healthcare, other social sectors, as well as the country’s main strategic areas of development.

In particular, it was noted that over the past five years alone, 781 new industrial enterprises have been established and commissioned in the province, creating more than 8,000 new jobs.

Emomali Rahmon stated that, despite significant progress in the sector, it is necessary to ensure the full processing of domestic raw materials, further increase the production of finished goods, and make full use of the export potential of domestic enterprises.

In the energy sector, the construction of the 500-kilovolt “South–North” electricity transmission line, stretching 264 kilometers, as well as the “Dushanbe–500” and “Sughd–500” substations, with a total cost of 2.8 billion somoni, was described as an outstanding example of the Government’s measures toward achieving complete energy independence.

It was deemed necessary to maintain continuous attention to the efficient use of energy capacities, the introduction of modern technologies, and the reduction of electricity losses.

It was noted that, to date, 13 state investment projects in the transport sector, worth more than 6.1 billion somoni, have been implemented in Sughd Province. Within these projects, 568 kilometers of roads of international significance, 90 bridges, and 11.7 kilometers of tunnels have been constructed and commissioned.

President Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the responsible authorities should continue to pay close attention to road maintenance, their efficient use, and improving the quality of transport infrastructure.

It was reported that during the years of independence, 986 educational institutions for 470,000 students had been constructed and commissioned in the cities and districts of Sughd Province, with a total investment of 1.4 billion somoni.

It was emphasized that, during the period of independence, 417 healthcare facilities had been constructed and commissioned in the cities and districts of the province in order to improve the quality of medical services.

Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, instructed the heads and responsible officials of the sector to take additional measures to equip healthcare institutions with modern equipment, develop digital medicine, improve the professional qualifications of healthcare workers, and further enhance the provision of medical services to the population.

In conclusion, President Emomali Rahmon expressed confidence that the honorable and hardworking people of Sughd Province would continue to make a valuable contribution to the country’s progress and the preservation of the achievements of the period of independence through their strong determination and constructive efforts.

At the meeting with the leaders and active representatives of Sughd Province, student Aziza Jumazoda, entrepreneur Isroilkhuja Samandarov, and labor veteran Gulafzo Savriddinova, a former member of the historic 16th Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, also delivered speeches. They spoke about ensuring decent living and educational opportunities, supporting entrepreneurship, and the achievements made during the period of state independence.
