Briefing on the Symposium Ensuring that no one is left behind in access to water and sanitation in New York
Dushanbe, 11.07.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. On 8 July 2016 on the initiative of the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN was held a briefing on the High-Level Symposium on SDG 6 and Targets: Ensuring that no one is left behind in access to water and sanitation» (Dushanbe August 9-11, 2016) in the Permanent Mission of Tajikistan to the UN in New York.
According to the Tajik MFA Information Department, the event was attended by the Permanent Representatives of a number of UN member states (Finland, Nepal, Tanzania, Tonga, Morocco, Gambia, Thailand, Mauritius, Bolivia, Fiji), Special Envoys of UN member states on High level Panel on water (the Netherlands, Hungary, Australia, Bangladesh, South Africa), as well as representatives from the UN Department of economic and social Affairs (UNDESA).
The briefing was opened by the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN. The First Deputy Minister of Energy and Water resources of Tajikistan — Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on the High level Panel on water Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda has provided the guests with detailed information on the Symposium.
Rahimzoda has expressed hope that the Symposium will be a platform to discuss ways to implement the SDG 6 and targets and gave positive answers to all the questions and suggestions of guests.
