Mahmadaminov attended the meeting of the 1st Committee of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly
Dushanbe, 27.10.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On October 25, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov delivered a joint statement on behalf of all Central Asian countries on the occasion of 10th Anniversary of the Treaty on a Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone in Central Asia (CANWFZ) at the meeting of the 1st Committee of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly.
According to Tajik MFA Information Department, in his statement, the Permanent Representative said that the Zone free of nuclear weapons in Central Asia is the first zone located entirely in the Northern Hemisphere and in a landlocked region.
“He also noted that the Zone has made a real contribution to the implementation of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), the global process of disarmament and non-proliferation, as well as the formation of a mechanism for regional security”, — stated in the Ministry’s statement.
