Peter Burian, EU Special Representative for Central Asia: EU will further make efforts to strengthen cooperation with Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 25.01.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The European Union /EU/ will continue to express interest in the strengthening of the fields of education, science, health and agriculture, as well as will continue cooperation in the training of highly qualified personnel. It was stated on Tuesday January 24 by Mr. Peter Burian, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia, following the meeting with the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.
Mr. Burian, highly assessing bilateral and multilateral relations between Tajikistan and the EU, noted that during the meeting the important processes of bilateral cooperation, preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Cooperation Council between Tajikistan — EU, ways to strengthen cooperation for the improvement and implementation of the National Development Strategy for the period until 2030, the economic situation in the country, security, as well as regional actual topics and other issues of mutual interest were discussed.
It should be noted that the volume of goods turnover between Tajikistan and EU countries in the first 9 months of 2016 made up 225,753.4 USD of which 122,442.8 million USD makes up export and 103,310.6 million USD — import.
