Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries held in New York
DUSHANBE, 25.09.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On the sidelines of the 72nd session of the United Nations General Assembly there was held the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Central Asian countries. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the MFA Information Department.
During the meeting, the Ministers discussed the issues of economic development of Central Asian countries, ensuring regional security, as well as joint approaches to further development of regional cooperation.
At the meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov briefed his colleagues on the Second Ministerial Meeting of the Arab Economic and Cooperation Forum with the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Azerbaijan to be held in Dushanbe on 16 October 2017. Minister Aslov also called on them to participate actively in the implementation of the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028».
Following the meeting, a Joint Statement was adopted in which the Ministers welcomed the initiative of Tajikistan to organise a high-level event in June 2018 in Dushanbe on the implementation of the above-mentioned decade.
