Azerbaijan Parliament marked the 25th anniversary of the historic XVI session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 13.11.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. On November 10, a special high-level political event was held in the building of the Milli Mejlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Azerbaijan devoted to the 25th anniversary of the historic XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the Information Department of the Foreign Ministry of the country, the event was held at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan with the support of Committee on Foreign and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of Milli Mejlis Republic of Azerbaijan and Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.
On the Tajik side, Deputy Chairman of the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan Akramsho Felaliev and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan Rustam Soli took part and made a speech in the event.
The First Deputy Chairman of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ziyafet Askerov, the Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group of Azerbaijan and Tajikistan Aydin Mirzazade, as well as other parliamentarians of the Republic of Azerbaijan took part and made speeches in the event.
It was also attended by the Ambassadors and number of representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Baku, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, academic and social circles and representatives of mass media of Azerbaijan.
The moderator of the event was the Chairman of the Committee on Foreign and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of Milli Mejlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samad Seyidov.
The participants of the event noted that the foundation of the new system of Tajiks statehood, the basis of a democratic, legal and secular state was laid due to the decisions of the XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan. It was noted that the national accord, peace and unity achieved by the Tajik people are a logical continuation of the decisions of the Session.
It was especially noted the historical role of Emomali Rahmon as President-peacemaker and founder of the state independence of Tajiks, the founder of deep political and socio-economic reforms and creative transformations in the country.
During the meeting, it was particularly emphasized that on this significant day the “Day of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan” is also celebrated in Tajikistan, which is a logical choice of the historical date.
Within the framework of the event, archival photos of the historic XVI Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan and further ways to implement the decisions of the fateful session, the book of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as books and stands dedicated to the activities of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, as well as the creative programs carried out under his leadership for the benefit of the development of the country and the improvement of the well-being of the people were on display.
