Tajikistan’s Ambassador Attends the UN Security Council Debate on Afghanistan
DUSHANBE, 20.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the United Nations (UN), Ambassador Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov attended and addressed the UN Security Council debate on Afghanistan.
In his statement, Mahmadaminov highlighted the key threats and challenges facing Afghanistan, in particular terrorism, extremism, transnational organized crime and illicit drug trafficking and emphasized the need for better coordinated action and strengthening regional cooperation in order to alleviate Afghanistan’s situation, reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mahmadaminov also briefed the participants on the outcome of recent important actions of the Government of Tajikistan, in particular the high-level conference International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and Its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime, which took place on May 16-17, 2019 and the fifth summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) which was held this June in Dushanbe.
