Tajik and Kyrgyz FMs Discuss Border Incident
DUSHANBE, 09.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin held a telephone conversation with his Kyrgyz counterpart Chingiz Aidarbekov.
The foreign ministers discussed the incident that occurred on the evening of May 8 in Kumazor area, in the Chorkuh rural community in the Sughd province.
The talk focused on the need for coordinating action aimed at promptly resolving the incident. The counterparts came to a common opinion on the advisability of carrying out outreach among the local population to relieve tension in the border area.
The ministers agreed to maintain constant communication to normalize the situation and prevent its escalation in the future.
