DUSHANBE, 20.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan’s presidency in the CSTO seeks to further develop the system of collective security and regional stability. This was said yesterday at a press conference following the CSTO Ministerial Council meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin.
While considering the upcoming anniversaries of the CSTO, including the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Collective Security Treaty and the 20th anniversary of the organization itself, President Rahmon instructed the Secretary General in collaboration with the member states to prepare a consolidated report on the CSTO activities over the past period.
Every effort will be made to approve this comprehensive document in the anniversary year 2022 at the next CSTO summit.
Special attention was paid to the action plan for the implementation of the decisions of the session of the Collective Security Council and the implementation of the priority directions proposed by Tajikistan.
This plan was approved on February 18 this year by the Chairman of the CSC, President Rahmon.
The plan is a kind of roadmap covering all the most important events within the CSTO this year.
Muhriddin also noted that today, in accordance with the agenda of the meeting, the ministers discussed the state and prospects for the development of the international and regional situation and its impact on the security of the CSTO member states.
“We have adopted a number of statements on topical issues of the international agenda, as well as cooperation with states and international organizations,” he added.
