Statement by the Press Center of the Prosecutor’s Office of Tajikistan in GBAO

DUSHANBE, 15.12.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On December 13, the Minister of Internal Affairs Ramazon Rahimzoda, the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security Saymuin Yatimov and on behalf of the Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon, the Prosecutor of GBAO Parviz Orifzoda met with the representatives of the civil society in Khorug, reports the Press Center of the GBAO Prosecutor’s Office.
The Regional Prosecutor provided detailed information on investigative actions in connection with criminal and unlawful actions committed during the events from November 25 through November 28, on the completed forensic examination, as well as on the cooperation between members of the investigative team and civil society representatives.
Minister of Internal Affairs and the Chairman of the State Committee for National Security spoke and thanked civil society representatives and residents of Khorug for their help in stabilizing the situation. They also expressed their views and offered their suggestions on issues related to the rule of law and legal solutions to existing problems.
Lawyers Manuchehr Kholiknazarov and Muzaffar Muborakshoyon spoke on behalf of civil society and expressed satisfaction with the progress of the investigation. They also received answers to some of their questions from the participants and the investigation team.
Regarding those who have been on the wanted list, and who despite being summoned have not appeared and made themselves available to the investigating authorities, in accordance with the law, measures of forced delivery to the investigating authorities will be applied.
The meeting participants agreed that the process of investigative actions will be continued in accordance with the requirements of the legislation of the republic.
