Dushanbe Will Host Conference on Combating Terrorism

DUSHANBE, 26.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – From October 18 through October 19, Dushanbe will host a high-level conference on the theme “International and Regional Cooperation in the Field of Border Security and Control to Combat Terrorism and Prevent the Movement of Terrorists.”
“The conference will be held in collaboration with the UN, OSCE, EU, and other international partners, being a logical continuation of the Dushanbe Process launched in May 2019 during the first regional conference, jointly organized by the UN Counter-Terrorism Office and the government of Tajikistan,” reports the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Dushanbe Conference is expected to be attended by ministers and officials of the UN member states, UN entities for the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy, international and regional organizations, civil society institutions, border security experts to exchange views on ways to strengthen international and regional cooperation in the field of border security and border control to combat terrorism and prevent the movement of terrorists.
The government of Tajikistan in collaboration with the UN, OSCE, EU and other international partners, had successfully held two high-level international conferences in 2018 and 2019 in Dushanbe dedicated to the fight against terrorism and extremism.
It is expected that the conference will result in the adoption of the Dushanbe Declaration on Border Security and Border Control to Counter Terrorism and Prevent the Movement of Terrorists.
On August 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the registration of media representatives to cover the conference.

In addition, it is necessary for the participants to complete the registration procedure before September 30th on the official website of the conference.
