DUSHANBE, 19.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – “In recent days, Kyrgyzstan has launched an unprecedented misnformation campaign in the media, not only in our region, but also beyond its borders,” said the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi at a briefing for representatives of diplomatic corps, international organizations, and the media today in Dushanbe.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan is using very “aggressive rhetoric” against Tajikistan.
“If we evaluate this campaign in the media, we see it as part of an aggressive policy that has been openly continuing in recent years by the leadership of Kyrgyzstan,” he added.
Imomi noted that Kyrgyzstan planned not only the treacherous armed attacks, but also the false narrative of the events that it is presenting in the media.
“This once again proves the aggression that the Kyrgyz Republic has committed against Tajikistan,” Imomi emphasized.
He noted that despite the previous conflicts, the Tajik side has always objectively covered the events in the media.
“We proceeded from the fact that the power of the media is great, and do not seek to enflame passions,” he stressed.
“Another basis on which our information policy was based upon is that we have been living together with the Kyrgyz people for centuries. I am sure that these days will also pass. In no case should we create the image of an “enemy” in the face of the Kyrgyz people. This is absolutely unacceptable. But our opponents are doing exactly this. According to our data, in Bishkek and other cities of Kyrgyzstan, Tajik citizens are identified by ethnicity, without reference to citizenship, and illegal violent actions are being taken against them. They are being beaten and taken away in unknown directions. This is what the aggressive “information campaign” against Tajikistan is leading to,” Imomi said.
From September 14 through September 18, military formations of the Border Troops of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic fired at the northern territory of Tajikistan without any valid reason. During this act of aggression, the Kyrgyz side used mortars, machine guns, other small arms, attack unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) «Bayraktar TB2,» and multiple rocket launchers (MLRS).
Detailed official information about the aggression of the Kyrgyz Republic against the territorial integrity and inviolability of Tajikistan’s border, as well as the chronology of events can be found on the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
