DUSHANBE, 20.09.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Over 230 armed incidents have been recorded over the past 12 years in the shared border area between Tajikistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. This was stated yesterday at a briefing by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sodik Imomi.
“Over the past 12 years, there have been more than 230 incidents of weapons being used along the border,” he said.
According to him, previously Tajikistan refrained from taking any retaliatory steps, incurring losses among civilians and military personnel.
«Moreover, in order to avoid bloodshed in the border areas, the government of Tajikistan carried out a campaign to disarm the population, while our neighbors pursued a completely different policy,” Imomi emphasized.
