DUSHANBE, 05.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – The Executive Committee of the Football Federation of Tajikistan (FFT Executive Committee) decided to increase the number of clubs of the top league of Tajikistan championship in the new season.
The Executive Committee decided to increase the number of clubs from 10 to 12. The composition of participants in the first league of Tajikistan will also be expanded.
It was revealed that Fayzkand FC will not be able to take part in the 2024 Tajikistan Championship due to financial and infrastructural difficulties. This club will be replaced by the bronze medalist of the first league of last season — Barkchi FC, which successfully passed the licensing procedure.
Additionally, due to the expansion of the number of teams in the 2024 Tajikistan Championship to 12, Regar-TadAZ and Vakhsh will continue to play in the top league, as these clubs meet the requirements of the championship and have successfully passed licensing. The Hulbuk and Mohir teams, which respectively took fourth and fifth place at the end of the first league’s last season, were not admitted to the major league due to their non-compliance with the established requirements of the licensing regulations for top league clubs.
According to the decision of the Executive Committee, the new season will be held in two rounds, where each team will play each other at home and away. Totalla, each club will hold 22 matches in the championship. The club that takes last place in the top league of the 2024 season is relegated to the first league, and the team that takes eleventh place in the championship will play transition matches with the silver medalist of the first league.
