EU Is Developing a New Program to Finance Priority Areas of Tajikistan

DUSHANBE, 14.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Trade turnover between Tajikistan and the European Union (EU) in 2023 amounted to $401.5 million. This was stated on March 12 during the fourth meeting of the Subcommittee on the Development of Cooperation between Tajikistan and the EU.
The priority areas of cooperation were named trade, economics, industry, investment, healthcare, education, energy, digitalization, the creation of technology parks, and the construction of the Rogun hydroelectric power plant.
As part of the first stage of the EU Indicative Program for 2021-2024, €91 million have been allocated for priority areas of Tajikistan. Projects are being implemented.
A new draft of the EU’s multi-year Indicative Program for 2024-2027 is at the development stage, and the amount of its funding will be determined in 2024.
It was noted that the EU is ready to allocate a grant of €45 million for the development of the energy sector of Tajikistan and plans to implement promising projects in the future.
