Tajikistan Plays Key Role in Fight Against Drug Trafficking

DUSHANBE, 20.03.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan plays a key role in the fight against drug trafficking and illegal trade, Director of the Director of the Drug Control Agency Zafar Samad said at a meeting with the Chief of the Main Directorate for drug control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Ivan Gorbunov in Vienna.
The issues of strengthening cooperation in the fight against illegal drug trafficking and drug addiction prevention were discussed at the meeting.
Zafar Samad thanks the Russian side for the mutually beneficial cooperation in the implementation of the Agreement between the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation on cooperation and assistance in combating illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.
Ivan Gorbunov, in his turn noted that Tajikistan plays a key role in the fight against illegal drug trafficking and cooperate with the Drug Control Agency of Tajikistan as important. It should be noting that he 67th Session of the United Nations (UN) Commission on Narcotic Drugs will continue until March 22, 2024, and bilateral meetings are expected on its sidelines.
