DUSHANBE, 11.07.2024 /NIAT «Khovar»/. «Over the years of cooperation within the CIS, the Republic of Tajikistan has been actively participating in the joint effort to combat transnational crime. We strongly advocate reasonable and constructive initiatives and actions in the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, human trafficking and other serious crimes,» said the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ramazon Rahimzoda during the Meeting of Heads of Metropolitan Divisions of Internal Affairs Bodies of CIS member states.
It was noted that in 2021 the Council of Ministers of Internal Affairs of the CIS introduced a new and, as practice shows, necessary format of cooperation. This is a meeting of the heads of the metropolitan divisions of the internal affairs bodies of the CIS member states to strengthen dialog and expand the exchange of experience on issues in the field of crime.
«Today we are honored to hold the fourth meeting of such format in Dushanbe. Such regular meetings and mutual visits testify to the development of relations between our ministries. The current meeting will make a significant contribution to the fight against crime and will give a new impetus to the cooperation of the internal affairs bodies of the CIS member states, strengthen the interaction of the capital’s units in the main areas of operational and service activities. This will allow us to unite,» the minister added.
According to Ramazon Rahimzoda, we live in a world in which we are increasingly facing new emerging threats that could not have been imagined 30 years ago. Cybercrime, cyberterrorism, internal regional and local armed conflicts, aggravation of national and international relations, mass immigration, political manipulation of peace and security issues in certain regions and others act as a threat to national security.
«Thus, in 2022 law enforcement agencies of the republic seized 5 tons of narcotic drugs from illegal circulation, and for 2023 and 5 months of this year seized more than 8 tons of narcotic drugs, which is 38% higher than the same period the year before last,» — said the Minister of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
