President Emomali Rahmon meets with Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko

On November 14, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, received the Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matvienko at the Palace of the Nation.

The meeting discussed issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia within the framework of strategic partnership and allied relations, including interparliamentary relations.

The President of the country, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, assessed the contribution of parliamentary diplomacy to strengthening and developing various aspects of cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia, including political dialogue, the development of trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.

In this regard, it was emphasized that Tajikistan considers interparliamentary cooperation to be an important component of the entire complex of relations. It was considered necessary to strengthen the work of sectoral parliamentary committees, especially in the sectors of economy, investment, energy, medicine, and ecology.

Particular attention was paid to expanding the exchange of experience in the field of legislation, digitalization, support for entrepreneurship and social policy.

During the conversation, issues related to Tajikistan’s chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States were discussed.

Satisfaction was expressed with the fruitful results of the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation, Honorable Vladimir Putin, to Tajikistan, as well as the high-level meetings of the Heads of the CIS participating states and in the «Central Asia-Russia» format.

An exchange of views was also held on the continuation of the constructive experience of cooperation within the framework of other regional and international organizations.
