President Emomali Rahmon Receives the Special Envoy of the President of the United States of America for South and Central Asia

On April 28, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, received the Special Envoy of the President of the United States of America for South and Central Asia, Sergio Gore.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed a wide range of issues related to the current state and prospects of cooperation, including in the areas of economy and trade, investment, and security.

In this context, special attention was paid to the implementation of agreements reached within the framework of the “Central Asia–United States of America (C5+1)” format.

The Leader of the Nation emphasized Tajikistan’s commitment to further developing and expanding relations with the United States in these and other areas of mutual benefit.

It was noted that the United States is currently among the top five investment partners of Tajikistan.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan also highlighted the importance of utilizing the opportunities provided by the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) to further develop and expand cooperation. Referring to Tajikistan’s existing potential in hydropower, mining and processing, light industry, food production, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals, it was considered in the interest of both sides to strengthen practical cooperation in these sectors.

The development of artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, and the digitalization of the economy, as well as the establishment of agricultural processing enterprises for export and the attraction of investment in these areas, were identified as promising directions for bilateral cooperation.

The two sides agreed to continue coordinating efforts between the relevant authorities to implement these and other mutually beneficial objectives.
