Ambassador of Tajikistan Highlights Regional Security, Peace Initiatives at NESA Forum

Tajikistan’s ambassador to the United States, Zavqi Zavqizoda, highlighted the country’s contributions to regional peace, security and international cooperation during the Near East South Asia (NESA) Center Commanders Forum held in Washington on Aug. 5.

According to the Embassy of Tajikistan in the United States, Zavqizoda presented Tajikistan’s experience, as well as that of the broader Central Asian region, in promoting regional peace, stability and security to participants from various countries.

He said Tajikistan has maintained peace and stability and achieved sustained economic and social development since gaining independence, attributing the country’s progress to the policies pursued under President Emomali Rahmon.

Participants also recognized Tajikistan’s role in advancing international initiatives related to peace, security, water resources and climate issues. They highlighted the significance of the U.N. General Assembly resolution establishing the International Decade of Strengthening Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036), adopted on June 25, 2026, at Tajikistan’s initiative.

The forum also acknowledged Tajikistan’s continued advocacy on global water issues and glacier preservation, recognizing the country’s efforts to promote international cooperation in addressing climate-related challenges.
