Embassy of Tajikistan in Baku Marks the 35th Anniversary of State Independence

On Sept. 4, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan hosted a ceremony in Baku marking the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event brought together representatives of the Azerbaijani government, members of Parliament, heads of diplomatic missions, representatives of the country’s political, business, academic and cultural communities, media representatives, and members of the Tajik community residing in Azerbaijan.
Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Azerbaijan Ilhom Abdurahmon welcomed the guests and highlighted the country’s major achievements in the political, socioeconomic and cultural spheres since independence. He also underscored the role of the Leader of the Nation and President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, in strengthening modern Tajik statehood, ensuring peace and national unity, and advancing the country’s sustainable development.
The guest of honor, Rashad Nabiyev, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, congratulated Tajikistan on the 35th anniversary of its independence, praised the high level of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and expressed confidence in the continued strengthening of their friendship and strategic partnership.
The celebration featured a concert program with performances of traditional Tajik songs and dances, as well as an exhibition of national handicrafts showcasing traditional costumes, chakan, suzani, popuri embroidery, and works by Tajik artisans.
Guests were also served traditional Tajik cuisine and fresh locally grown fruit, providing an opportunity to experience the country’s rich cultural heritage alongside the anniversary celebration.
