A literary gathering honoring classical Tajik-Persian poet Hafez Sherazi was held Oct. 12 at the Society for Friendship and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries in Belarus, Khovar reported, citing the Tajik Embassy in Minsk.
The event brought together Tajikistan’s Ambassador to Belarus Bakhtovar Safarzoda, Iranian Ambassador Mohsen Omid-Zamani, foreign diplomats, Belarusian writers and poets, academics, cultural representatives, and Tajik and Belarusian university students and faculty.
Held to mark Hafez Day, the gathering celebrated the poet’s literary and spiritual legacy and sought to promote his humanistic values and strengthen cultural ties among nations.
Participants highlighted Hafez’s place in classical Tajik-Persian literature and world culture, noting that his ghazals, which explore love, wisdom, free thought and human dignity, continue to resonate across linguistic and geographical boundaries.
Tajik and Belarusian students recited Hafez’s ghazals in Tajik, Persian and Russian. Selections of his poetry also were presented in Belarusian.
Participants said the event helped strengthen friendship and mutual understanding, expand intercultural dialogue and promote Tajik-Persian literary heritage in Belarus.
