Congratulatory message of the President of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson to the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon
DUSHANBE, 22.12.2016. /NIAT «Khovar»/. On December 21, 2016, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution entitled “International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028” which was proposed by the Republic of Tajikistan. In this regard, the President of the 71st session of the UN General Assembly Mr. Peter Thomson has sent a congratulatory message to the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Mr. Emomali Rahmon, which reads in particular:
“Excellency,
I have the honor to congratulate you and your delegation with the successful adoption of your Resolution entitled International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 at the United Nations General Assembly on 21 December 2016.
I sincerely hope the new Decade which focuses on the sustainable development and integrated management of water resources, as well as furtherance of cooperation and partnership at all levels would help the countries to achieve internationally agreed water-related development goals and targets, particularly those contained in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
