DUSHANBE, 10.01.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Today, at the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission in Tajikistan, Paul Ross.

The two sides discussed the state and prospects of further expansion of financial and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

During a constructive conversation the interlocutors paid a particular attention to a wide range of issues related to deepening global financial and economic crisis, the further plans related to the development and reducing the negative impact of external factors on the economy of Tajikistan.

President Emomali Rahmon pointed out the measures taken by the Government of Tajikistan with regard to reducing the negative impact of external factors on economy and promoting competitiveness of the national economy.

Leader of the Nation expressed confidence that Tajikistan’s partners for development within the framework of the strategic development priorities through extending support for the state budget, social, communication and energy sector will make a worthy contribution to the solution of existing financial and economic difficulties.

During the meeting the further steady development and expansion of bilateral partnership cooperation between Tajikistan and the IMF for the past 23 years was called fruitful.

The sides expressed their willingness and interest for further cooperation, and called today’s meeting an important step towards strengthening the partnership between Tajikistan and the IMF.
