The 7th Tajikistan- EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in Brussels
DUSHANBE, 01.12.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On November 29, the 7th Tajikistan- EU Parliamentary Cooperation Committee was held in the European Parliament in Brussels.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Information Department, the meeting was attended by a group of deputies of the Assembly of Representatives of the Supreme Assembly of the Republic of Tajikistan under the leadership of Mr. Sharif Rahimzoda, Chair of the Economy and Finance Committee of the Assembly of Representatives, and a group of Members of the European Parliament led by Mrs. Iveta Grigule Peterse, Chair of the EU Delegation to the EU-Kazakhstan, EU-Kyrgyzstan, EU-Uzbekistan and EU-Tajikistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committees and for relations with Turkmenistan and Mongolia.
During the meeting, the participants discussed a number of current topics, including the priority objectives of the National Development Strategy to 2030, political, trade and investment climate in Tajikistan. Also discussed were “reforms carried out in the economic and social spheres, human rights and freedoms, the situation of people with disabilities in the society, the rule of law, the EU Strategy for Central Asia,” said a source. Special attention was paid to regional and international issues, such as the fight against terrorism and extremism, the situation in Afghanistan and the role of Tajikistan and the EU in the development of the country.
Environmental protection and agricultural development were among the important issues discussed at the meeting.
