Khujand Celebrates Flag Day with Festivities
DUSHANBE, 23.11.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, Khujand will celebrate Flag Day with a procession of youth, residents, representatives of regional and city organizations.
Round tables, conferences, fairs and various sporting events will be held in the cities and districts of Sughd province. Streets, avenues and buildings will be decorated with festive banners and posters, and public transportation will be equipped with signs depicting the Tajik flag, reports the Chairman’s Office in Khujand.
The main celebrations will be held in the National Flag Square, where a meeting and a cultural program will also take place.
Before the meeting, a festive procession will be organized with the participation of more than 8,000 people who will carry a 500-meter flag from both sides of the main avenue of Khujand to the National Flag Square.
The National flag is one of the symbols of Tajikistan’s sovereignty. It was approved 27 years ago, on November 24, 1992, at the 16th session of the Supreme Council of Tajikistan in Khujand.
The National Flag Day of Tajikistan has been celebrated since 2009.
