Emergency Committee Warns About Storm and Adverse Weather
DUSHANBE, 13.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Tomorrow, storm, heavy rains, thunderstorms, hail, and lightning is expected in Tajikistan, except for eastern parts of GBAO, reports the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the government of Tajikistan (CESCD).
“In some areas, wind speeds will reach 13-18 m/s. Daytime temperatures in the valleys will decrease by 6-8 degrees. Due to bad weather in the mountain and foothill areas of Khatlon, Sughd, districts of republican subordination and western areas of GBAO, a sharp increase in water levels in rivers is forecasted,” according to CESCD.
The Committee urges citizens to observe basic personal security measures and to refrain from hiking in the mountains. Unstable weather will also complicate the grazing of livestock on pastures.
In order to prevent accidents on mountain roads and passes, CECSD urges drivers to limit their movement at night, and observe traffic rules and speed limits.
The Committee asks citizens to call 112 or the call center 223 13 11 in case of hazardous and potentially dangerous situations.
