Mudslides Hit Rogun’s Sicharog Community
DUSHANBE, 10.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Triggered by heavy rain and hail, yesterday evening Rogun’s Sicharog rural community was hit by mudslides.
As a consequence, the inter-village roads of Luguri Bolo, Shohi Aslon, Sangi Surkh and Kali Bed have been damaged. Three bridges and four poles connecting the power lines have also been partially damaged, reports the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense (CESCD).
Homes of local residents have not been effected and there are no victims.
The city emergency commission arrived at the scene to organize the work on liquidation of the consequences of the mudslides. Work is underway to clear the terrain.
The CESCD is asking citizens to be careful while on mountain roads, fishing, and hiking in mountainous areas.
Due to the current hot weather and heavy rainfall in the mountainous and foothill areas, intensive snow melting can provoke more mudslides and rockfalls, rising water levels in rivers.
