FM Muhriddin Meets JICA’s Former and New Chiefs

DUSHANBE, 28.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the former Chief Representative of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Tajikistan Hideki Tanabe as well as its new Chief Takasaku Muneo.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations and the implementation of current joint projects on technical assistance in the field of economy, education, health care, and social spheres.
The parties also reviewed cooperation between the two countries in the fight against COVID-19.
It was highlighted that the Japan makes an invaluable contribution to the training of Tajik specialists through the Japan Assistance Program (JDS) for Human Resource Development Scholarships.
The Tajik side proposed to expand cooperation in the field of agriculture and take steps to create joint ventures for the processing of herbal plants and the development of this industry in the country.
Following the meeting Muhriddin expressed his gratitude to Tanabe for the fruitful cooperation and constant support provided in the implementation of Japanese grant projects, and wished Muneo success in his future work in Tajikistan.
