National Assembly Speaker Rustam Emomali Holds A Working Meeting

DUSHANBE, 11.09.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – This morning, National Assembly Speaker Rustam Emomali held a working meeting with the participation of the Chairman of the Supreme Court Shermahmad Shohiyon, the Prosecutor General Yusuf Rahmon and heads of other relevant structures, including the law enforcement agencies of Dushanbe.
Along with other issues, the appeals of the relatives of the raped three-year-old girl from Tursunzoda and other similar cases were checked, information about which was published in social networks in recent days and caused a huge response.
The report of the Prosecutor General on these issues and other crimes committed against sexual freedom and sexual inviolability in 2017-2019 and for last eight months was heard.
It was noted that in connection with the incident in Tursunzoda, suspects were arrested, and currently, preliminary checks of the criminal case, which is under strict control, are continuing.
Also, the chairman of the Supreme Court and the Commissioner for Children’s Rights in Tajikistan reported on this issue.
After the report of the heads and responsible persons of law enforcement agencies, Rustam Emomali instructed them, including the Prosecutor General, to analyze the investigative and judicial practice of criminal cases against freedom, honor and dignity of a person, morality, sexual freedom and sexual integrity in relation to minors, as provided for in articles 138-142 of the Criminal Code, determine the causes and factors of such crimes, together with other relevant authorities to take decisive measures to prevent their commission in the future.
“Such vile and alien actions for our people, which are committed especially towards minors using their helpless intellectual state, undermine the good name of our nation and society and negatively affect the health of the younger generation,” stressed National Assembly Speaker.
Rustam Emomali instructed the leaders and responsible persons to strengthen campaigning and explanatory work among the population to prevent such shameful acts, to comprehensively improve the norms of legislation, primarily the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and to increase punishment in relation to persons who have committed such crimes.
