First Deputy PM Davlatali Said Chairs Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate

DUSHANBE, 14.10.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the second intersession meeting of the Consultative Council on Improvement of Investment Climate under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the leadership of the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said. Members of the Consultative Council, heads and officials of relevant ministries and agencies, development partners and invited guests attended the meeting.
The focus was the preparation of a draft analysis and recommendations for improving the investment climate in the field of information and communication technologies, as well as analysis of the current state in the industry and identification of new opportunities for increasing industrial capacity.
During the Round Table on Entrepreneurship and Investment as a Basis for Economic Development,
Faizullozoda Zarobiddin who is serving as the Minister of Industry and New Technologies and and Ilhom Atoev, deputy head of the Communications Service delivered reports on the main topics of the meeting. In addition, Permanent Representative of the World Bank in Tajikistan Jan Peter Olters, UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Sezin Sinanoglu, UNDP Resident Representative in Tajikistan Pratibha Mehta,Oleg Guchgeldiev serving as the FAO Representative, and many others attended the meeting.
First Deputy Prime Minister noted that the development of information and communication technologies and the transition to a digital economy is one of the important issues of economic policy, and its widespread use is becoming increasingly important in the current prevalence of the coronavirus pandemic. Within the framework of the fourth strategic goal — rapid industrialization, study of the current state of industry and identification of new opportunities to increase the capacity of the sector, including light industry, production of construction materials, processing of agricultural products, mining, and on this basis the development of national production are considered important.
At the end of the meeting, taking into account the comments and suggestions, relevant instructions were given to respective parties.
