Labor Minister Attends CIS Consultative Council Meeting on Labor, Employment and Social Protection
DUSHANBE, 02.11.2020 (NIAT Khovar) – The Minister of Labor, Migration and Employment of the Population Gulru Jabborzoda attended and spoke at the 33rd meeting of the Consultative Council on Labor, Employment and Social Protection of the CIS member states.
The meeting focused on over 16 issues relating to the labor market, employment and social protection of the population of the CIS countries.
Council members reported on the measures taken by the CIS member states during the COVID-19 pandemic, their experience in reducing the impact of the pandemic on the labor market, and the social situation of the population.
Regarding the issues of the social and labor situation in Tajikistan and the measures taken during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Jabborzoda noted that a presidential decree was signed June 5 On Preventing the Impact of COVID-19 on the Socio-Economic Spheres of Tajikistan in order to support the socio-economic sectors of the country and strengthen social protection of vulnerable groups of the population, including the disabled, pensioners and low-income families.
“During this period, in accordance with another decree, from September 1 the current official salaries of civil servants, employees of budgetary organizations and institutions, pensions and scholarships have been increased. An anti-crisis plan has also been developed to reduce the consequences of the pandemic,” added Jabborzoda.
The meeting also focused on the process of preparing a number of draft normative documents on labor and living standards.
It was decided that the CIS countries need to expand cooperation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic in order to implement practical measures to reduce the impact of the pandemic on the CIS labor market.
