First Deputy Speaker of Representatives Assembly Attends the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly Coordination Meeting

DUSHANBE, 19.02.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, a coordination meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA) was held via videoconference under the chairmanship of the First Deputy Speaker of the Representatives Assembly Mahmadali Vatanzoda.
Representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia took part in the meeting which focused on the coordination of foreign policy activities of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states at the OSCE PA, on the issues of the 20th winter OSCE PA (February 24-26, 2021) and exchange of views on topical issues, on recommendations for coordinating the actions of parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states in an international parliamentary organization and on other issues.
“Tajikistan fully supports the joint efforts of the member states aimed at further strengthening cooperation within the framework of the CSTO PA. We express our confidence that the further development of our mutually beneficial cooperation is a serious help not only in the direction of socio-economic development, but also a reliable means of ensuring stability and security in the area of responsibility of the organization,” Vatanzoda noted.
He also added that Tajikistan this year took over the chairmanship of the CSTO and the Tajik delegation fulfills the will of the chairmen of the parliaments of the CSTO states in terms of continuing the practice of regular meetings of heads of delegations at OSCE meetings.
“While considering the format of the OSCE PA winter meetings does not provide for voting on any resolution or adoption of any reports, today we are gathered here to discuss a global point of view on the presented topics of reporting by OSCE committees. I also inform you that information about our meeting with you and about our delegations during the winter session and its results will be included in the agenda of the next meeting of the CSTO PA Council, which will be held at the end of March this year in Dushanbe,” Vatanzoda added.
Tajikistan constantly strives to implement the programs and strategies of the CSTO and takes measures to provide organizational and legal support to the organization.
“I am confident that the current exchange of views will contribute to the coordination of positions and solidarity with the situation in the sphere of responsibility of the organization, as well as an objective assessment of threats and security measures,” Vatanzoda stressed.
The plenipotentiary representative of the Supreme Assembly of Tajikistan in the Inter-parliamentary Assembly of the CIS and CSTO member states Bakhtovar Safarzoda took part in the work of the coordination meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
The CSTO PA organizes the activities of the CSTO, which includes the leaders of the parliaments of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
