President Emomali Rahmon Holds Phone Conversation with Chinese Counterpart

DUSHANBE, 03.03.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a phone conversation with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.
President Rahmon extended his New Year greetings to President Xi Jinping and the Chinese people, wishing the Chinese people a happy Spring Festival and new successes, prosperity and well-being.
He also noted China’s brilliant and historic achievements in poverty alleviation and strengthening its prestige in the international arena in recent decades, on which the Tajik side expresses warm congratulations.
During the talks the sides discussed important areas of bilateral cooperation within the framework of comprehensive strategic partnership between Tajikistan and China.
They also reviewed prospects for expanded cooperation in the field of trade and economy, digital economy, transportation and agriculture, as well as mitigation of the impact of the global financial and economic crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
While speaking about China’s contribution to the fight against the pandemic, President Rahmon noted his appreciation for China’s invaluable support in Tajikistan’s battle against the outbreak, including the readiness of the Chinese government to provide Tajikistan with free Chinese-made vaccines.
The sides expressed hope for a sustainable stabilization of the pandemic.
The counterparts expressed their willingness to further develop cultural and humanitarian ties. The strengthening of the win-win cooperation in the field of security was also touched upon.
Since Tajikistan is holding the rotating chairmanship of the SCO, and its Jubilee Summit is scheduled to be held in Dushanbe this year, the leaders expressed satisfaction with the cooperation between their countries within the framework of SCO and other international and regional organizations, in particular, the United Nations and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.
Taking this opportunity, President Xi Jinping expressed his sincere congratulations to the people of Tajikistan on the occasion of the upcoming Tajik New Year, also known as Navruz.
The parties reaffirmed their determination to further promote the joint development of all the areas of Tajik-Chinese relations in the spirit of friendship, good neighborliness and mutual trust.
