Tajik and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Tajik-Kyrgyz Negotiation Process

DUSHANBE, 01.05.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, per Russian side initiative, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin held a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
Muhriddin informed the Lavrov about incidents on the border with the Kyrgyz Republic and the agreements reached to stabilize the situation.
He confirmed Tajikistan’s intention to settle border issues with Kyrgyzstan exclusively through negotiations and a search for mutually acceptable formulas, taking into account the country’s national interests.
Lavrov welcomed the launched Tajik-Kyrgyz negotiation process, as well as the reached agreement on a ceasefire.
