Emomali Rahmon and Frech President Macron Discusses Latest Development in Afghanistan

DUSHANBE, 25.08.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a telephone conversation with the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron.
At the outset of the conversation, President Rahmon offered his thanks to President Macron for his initiative to discuss the current state and future prospect of Tajik-French relations, as well as certain pressing items on the international and regional agenda, with an emphasis on the latest developments in Afghanistan.
He noted that the security of Central Asian is connected to the situation in Afghanistan.
President Rahmon noted that Afghanistan is on the brink of a humanitarian catastrophe due to the real threat of a new wave of civil confrontations.
As its closest neighbor, Tajikistan stands for the creation of a peaceful and stable state with the central coordinating role of the UN.
President Rahmon informed Macron about the measures taken by the Tajik side to strengthen the security of the Tajik-Afghan border in light of the sharp deterioration of the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of the coalition forces.
“Ensuring security in the Central Asian region is the most important condition for further sustainable socio-economic development of our countries,” noted Rahmon.
The parties agreed to continue consultations on Afghanistan. They decided to instruct the foreign ministers to be in constant contact on mentioned issues, both in bilateral and multilateral levels.
