Muhriddin to Guterres: Tajikistan Will Recognize Only an Inclusive Government in Afghanistan

DUSHANBE, 04.10.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – On October 1, as part of the General Debates of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. The meeting focused on a wide range of cooperation issues between Tajikistan and the UN in various fields, including political, socio-economic, humanitarian, and security aspects.
The parties also stressed the need to enhance multilateral interaction.
Likewise they paid special attention to the joint fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as an effective response to the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change, and its impact on water resources.
The parties focused special attention on the provision of emergency humanitarian aid to the population of Afghanistan, and the need to strengthen international cooperation to prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in this country.
Muhriddin noted that Tajikistan will recognizes only an inclusive government that consists of all political and ethnic groups in Afghanistan.
