President Emomali Rahmon Receives Korean Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong

DUSHANBE, 29.11.2021 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Chung Eui-yong who is in Tajikistan on an official visit to participate in the 14th Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum.
The discussion focused on the current state and prospects for developing Tajik – Korean relations, as well as major international and regional issues.
“We consider the Republic of Korea to be our reliable partner in the international arena and attach significant importance in further expanding cooperation in accordance with our common interests,” noted President Rahmon.
The sides discussed the prospects for developing cooperation in the political, trade, economic, social, technical, cultural, and humanitarian spheres.
They stressed the advisability of intensifying the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation for increasing economic growth, as well as expanding bilateral cooperation within the framework of the joint business forum to promote the investment cooperation between the two countries.
The conversation also touched upon a number of promising areas on the bilateral agenda, including agriculture, transport, minerals, communications, tourism, education, healthcare, chemicals, as well as banking and energy.
They parties expressed their satisfaction with effective work of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOIKA), and Korea’s assistance in the fight against the coronavirus.
While discussing the situation in the neighboring Afghanistan, they highlighted the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to the population of Afghanistan through the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations.
