Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron exchanged congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The congratulatory telegram from the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, states as follows:

«Your Excellency,

I have the honor to sincerely congratulate You on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the French Republic.

We are satisfied with the consistent development of interstate relations and multifaceted mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries, which over this period have acquired new constructive aspects.

Further expansion and building up of cooperation relations with France is one of the important directions in the foreign policy of Tajikistan. We attach particular importance to this process and make constant efforts to further develop them in all areas of mutual interest.

We are confident that our joint efforts to bring cooperation to a higher level in areas that meet the interests of the peoples of the two countries will bring fruitful results.

I wish you, Mr. President, good health and new successes, and peace, stability, happiness, progress and prosperity to the friendly people of France.”

The congratulatory telegram of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, reads, in particular:

“Dear Mr. President, Dear Emomali Rahmon,

On this day, when France and Tajikistan celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, I am pleased to witness the intensification of our political, cultural and economic exchanges this year, in particular thanks to your visit to Paris in October.

The Exhibition «Tajikistan — the Land of Golden Rivers», which we jointly opened in October at the Guimet Museum of Asian Arts in Paris, was a great success, which indicates the long-term work of the two French archaeological missions in Tajikistan and the very good cooperation between France and Tajikistan in this area.

I want us to continue our joint work in all areas identified during your visit to Paris, I am especially pleased that new partnerships have been established in the field of university cooperation, following the example of the recently signed agreement between the National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations and the Tajik National University.

As we look back over the past thirty years, I would like to once again express France’s gratitude to your country for providing a base in Dushanbe between 2001 and 2014 to the French Air Force. At the same time, and as it committed to doing so, France supported Tajikistan in the field of air travel. I am pleased to announce that the French Parliament has completed the ratification of the Air Services Agreement that we signed in Paris in 2019.

I would like us to continue the strategic dialogue we started on the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on regional security in Central Asia. Border tensions in the region are also a concern. France sees regional stability in Central Asia as vital. We are ready to negotiate with all our partners and strengthen our bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of the EU and the OSCE.
