DUSHANBE, 03.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of Tajikistan Rustam Emomali who is in Baku on an official visit.

The meeting focused on a wide range of issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan.

The parties emphasized the contribution of inter-parliamentary relations of the two countries to the progressive development of bilateral relations.

This year Tajikistan and Azerbaijan mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations, and in honor of this date, the Garden of Friendship between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan will be created in the Shamakhi region. For this purpose, more than 3,000 seedlings of fruit trees adapted to the climate of Azerbaijan were transported from Tajikistan.

The parties also discussed issues of cooperation between the two countries in the political sphere, including within the framework of international organizations such as the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Economic Cooperation Organization, as well as a high level of coordination bilateral initiatives in the international arena.

The parties expressed their opinion on expanding the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation for the further development of trade and economic relations, increasing the volume of bilateral turnover of goods and products.

In this context they called the creation of the Advisory Council an important step.

The parties also paid attention to expanding cooperation in the fields of transport, communications, energy, industry, agriculture, tourism, as well as expanding cultural and humanitarian ties.

An exchange of views also took place on the current political situation in the world and in the region, including the situation in Afghanistan and other topical issues.
