Tajikistan and Pakistan Strengthen Cooperation on Drug Control and Drug Addiction Prevention
DUSHANBE, 17.03.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, as part of the 65th session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs in Vienna, Director of the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan Habibullo Vohidzoda met with the Director General of the Anti-Drug Forces of Pakistan Ghulam Shabir.
The meeting focused on strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation with the authorized bodies of Pakistan on the basis of intergovernmental agreements and within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in the field of drug control and drug addiction prevention.
The parties expressed their readiness to prevent the smuggling of drugs, especially synthetic psychotropic substances from Afghanistan, which in recent years has been carried out by organized transnational groups.
Following the meeting, the parties noted the expediency of signing a new document on bilateral cooperation, taking into account the current threats to the national security of both countries.
