President Emomali Rahmon Receives EU Special Envoy for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson

DUSHANBE, 08.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Special Envoy of the European Union for Afghanistan Tomas Niklasson, who is in Dushanbe on a working visit.
The discussion focused on the expansion of multifaceted ties between Tajikistan and the EU.
While considering the issues of regional security as one of the important areas of partnership, the officials stressed the importance of high level of cooperation in combating security threats and challenges, which pose a serious threat to universal values.
While expressing concern over the growing threat of international terrorism, extremism, transnational organized crime, such as narcotic drugs and weapons as well as cybercrime, President Rahmon noted the the development of cooperation between Tajikistan and international partners as an important tool against such threats.
The sides exchanged views on the situation linked with the developments in Afghanistan.
President Rahmon once again noted the necessity of increasing humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan as soon as possible and expressed the readiness of Tajikistan to provide comprehensive assistance through its logistical capabilities.
