Tajik Delegation Meets Representatives of the Maldives and the Philippines in Kumamoto

DUSHANBE, 26.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – On April 24 in Kumamoto, on the sidelines of the Fourth Asia-Pacific Water Summit, Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Daler Juma and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda met with the Minister of State for Environment, Climate Change and Technologies of Maldives Ahmed Mujthaba.
The meeting focused on cooperation between Tajikistan and the Maldives in various fields, especially in the field of tourism, as well as within the framework of international organizations, including the implementation of the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development,» 2018-2028 in the United Nations, and participation of the delegation of the Maldives in the Second Dushanbe Water Conference (June 6-9, 2022).
On the same day, Juma and Sheralizoda met with Commissioner of the Climate Change Commission of the Philippines Robert E. A. Borje.
The main topics of discussion were the adoption of joint measures to eliminate the consequences of climate change, as well as the preparations for the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028, which will be held on June 6-9, 2022 in Dushanbe, and which will serve as a key link in the chain of events in organization for the UN Conference on the Comprehensive Midterm Review of the Water Decade (March 22-24, 2023, New York).
