Tajikistan and the Netherlands Hold Briefing on the UN 2023 Water Conference in New York

DUSHANBE, 13.04.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday at the UN headquarters, the Permanent Missions of Tajikistan and the Netherlands to the UN in collaboration with UNDESA and UN-Water organized a briefing on the UN 2023 Water Conference to provide information on the work that they have done and their future plans.
During the event, the co-hosts of the conference 2023 Sulton Rahimzoda and Hank Ovink briefed the participants on the preparatory process of the UN Water Conference 2023, further steps and expected results.
It was noted that the UN-2023 Water Conference aims to take concerted action to achieve the internationally agreed upon water related goals and targets.
Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Liu Zhenmin as a Secretary-General of the UN Water Conference 2023 and the Chair of UN-Water Gilbert Houngbo also shared their views on the preparatory process for the conference and their expectations from the UN 2023 Water Conference.
Tajikistan and the Netherlands, as co-chairs of the conference, and UNDESA and UN-Water, as the Secretariat of the conference, intend to make the UN-2023 Water Conference a watershed moment that unites the whole world to achieve water related goals and targets.
