President Emomali Rahmon Receives Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi

DUSHANBE, 01.08.2022 (NIAT Khovar) – Today, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, Wang Yi who is in Tajikistan on a working visit.
The discussion focused on bilateral and multilateral relations between Tajikistan and China.
While emphasizing the rapid development of friendly relations and comprehensive strategic partnership in all areas of cooperation, President Rahmon noted that «Tajikistan and China are close neighbors, and [Tajikistan] is interested in further strengthening the close multifaceted relations between the two countries in all forms.»
The high level of cooperation in the political, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in the sphere of security were noted as important.
China is firmly maintaining the position of one of the largest trade partners and investors of Tajikistan. According to statistics, in the first half of this year, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 82% compared to last year, reaching more than 19% of the total turnover of Tajikistan’s foreign trade.
Measures for increasing the established rate of trade turnover and its further promotion was emphasized. The officials also focused on the importance of further development of relations in the fields of trade, investment, industry, green technologies and cargo, including the launching the export of Tajik agricultural products into the Chinese market.
China was thanked for allocating new doses of the vaccine against the coronavirus.
They also touched upon some issues of cooperation within international and regional organizations including those related to the upcoming meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State to be held in Samarkand in September.
Both parties confirmed their mutual aspirations to further fight against terrorism and extremism, separatism, transnational organized crime, including drug trafficking, cybercrime and other security threats.
While exchanging views on a number of issues on the international agenda, the parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan.
